Married at First Sight USA viewers 'spot' same issue 'this is rubbish'

Married at First Sight fans were left underwhelmed as the US series of the show kicked off, labelling it "sterile" and "bland".

The new series of the reality show began with viewers being introduced to the first two couples tying the knot after meeting at the altar - Jalyn and Josh and Brittany and Will. However, as the programme aired on E4, numerous people took to social media to voice their complaints about the format.

Some wished for a glimpse of the stag and hen parties instead of diving straight into the weddings, while others felt that something was "missing" compared to other versions of Married at First Sight.

One posted on X: "Well, so far so bland! They say there are only five couples, so I imagine it's going to be a short series compared with other versions. Even so I think I'll bore of it before it's over, it's all so anodyne so far!"

"This feels too... what's the word... sterile?" another person commented on the platform, formerly known as Twitter.

"How rubbish is this compared to the Oz version? So dull," remarked another viewer. "This is so boring compared to the UK and Aus one," said someone else.

"Not feeling this version, anyone feel that something is missing," said another, as a different fan noted: "This doesn't feel like MAFS at all."

"We didn't even see them tell their families ffs bit NAFF," complained another disgruntled viewer, as someone else wrote: "So no stag and hen parties then just straight into the weddings." Another viewer thought it was "all too nicey nicey".

"The Aussie MAFS is more fun," commented someone else. "This USA one seems much more serious. It's hard to adjust to this new style, but I'll give it a chance."

However, others disagreed, with one posting: "Maybe it's more because you expect #MAFSUSA to be bigger and shinier, but Josh and Jayln are actually sedate and I love it."

"I think I prefer this format where they go straight into introducing the couples instead of groups of men and women," another person said.

The episode also concluded with a massive twist, when it was revealed that bride Jalyn's mum Belynda was also getting married in the social experiment, reports OK!

"The mother is getting the MAFS treatment as well?!!" said one viewer.

"There might be some hope for this after all!!"
