Only Fools and Horses' Tessa Peake-Jones has confessed that it was "torture" revisiting old clips of herself whilst creating the new documentary about the show.
The actress portrayed Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter's love interest Raquel Turner in the much-loved BBC sitcom, a role she held from 1988 until the series concluded in 2003. The sitcom is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, and U&GOLD is unveiling a brand-new two-part documentary series, Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive, to commemorate the occasion.
During her appearance on The One Show on Thursday (February 19), Tessa shared some details about the programme, which will feature never-before-seen footage, interviews with cast and crew, and long lost material, reports the Mirror.
The snippet showed her in conversation with Del Boy actor David Jason, who also appears in the documentary, as they reminisced over an old clip.
Presenter Alex Jones asked: "How was it reliving those moments with Sir David?"
Tessa, 68, responded: "Well, do you know, it's really weird. Because it's not like you're looking at something from a couple of years ago. This is decades and decades ago. So, I mean, we were in, you know, our 30s, 40s, 50s then. And so it was very odd.
"I hate looking at myself anyway. I don't watch anything I'm in. So to have to sit there was like torture to look at yourself 30 years ago. It felt really weird."
She added that co-star David, who is 86, "was quite touched by it all".
"He found it very nostalgic," she revealed. "And I think part of it was, you know, he was looking at himself in his prime when he was top of his game. You know? And I think that's quite, for him, 45 years, that's a lot longer than I was in it.
"It must have felt very odd and he's very moving about it."
"I think the public will really enjoy the programme, partly because it is unseen footage," Tessa continued. "So no one, including us, has ever seen this stuff. But also he is very interesting, what he talks about."
"Oh, people will love it, no doubt," presenter Alex said.
The classic sitcom about the escapades of Del Boy and Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and their quick money-making schemes aired from 1981 to 2003, and was a massive hit with viewers.
The documentary is scheduled to be broadcast this year.
