Only Fools and Horses fans have been left absolutely livid after Uncle Albert star Buster Merryfield's grave was allegedly desecrated in the sitcom legend's home county of Dorset.
The alleged vandalism has left devotees of the programme, which aired from 1981 to 2003, utterly "devastated" with many baffled as to why anyone would defile the cherished performer's resting place.
Merryfield played the hilarious war veteran Uncle Albert opposite David Jason's Del Boy and his brother Rodney. He passed away in 1999 aged 7 and was laid to rest beside his late wife Iris, who died three years afterwards in 2002.
According to the Sun, a source said: "They're devastated about what's happened to Buster's grave. He's so well loved, nobody can quite comprehend who would do such a thing. It's even been joked the Germans wouldn't have touched it, given the only ships Uncle Albert sunk were his own!" reports the Mirror.
The publication reports that an online fundraising campaign has been launched by The Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society. Supporters have posted messages denouncing the vandalism.
One fan commented: "There are some strange people in the world who need to get a life." Another posted: "Love to get my hands on the little s**** who did this."
Meanwhile, two stars from the beloved BBC sitcom are collaborating on a fresh project. Gwyneth Strong, 66, portrayed Cassandra in the popular BBC comedy and married Rodney Trotter. Now, 23 years since the final episode of the series was broadcast, Gwyneth has joined forces with Tessa Peake-Jones who portrayed the partner of David Jason's character Del Boy.
Speaking to the Telegraph, she revealed: "We're really close. At the moment, I'm writing a television proposal for her and me, so I'll wake up refreshed from my nap and work on that."
"I can't say much about it yet, but the show has elements of experiences Tessa and I have had throughout our very long friendship."
