Channel 4 fans were left absolutely gobsmacked when a couple made a suprising offer on their dream home during A Place in the Sun. Gary and Alison, on the hunt for a rustic retreat in France's Haute-Vienne, teamed up with telly fave Laura Hamilton and a budget of 100,000 to snag their ideal spot.

They had their hearts set on a two-bedder with enough room for Gary's vintage motors and a bit of green for the dogs. The pair were also smitten with the relaxed French setting.

Laura showed them a "quaint" pad in a cosy village first. Gary was charmed by its "character", later confessing: "The more we went round the more we loved it."

Keen to keep the wow factor going, the Channel 4 star whisked them off to a second place this one a bigger four-bedder, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Stepping into the lounge, Alison was said: "Yes, yes, yes." They were head over heels for the outdoor space, but Gary felt it was "a bit daunting."

However, they weren't impressed with the DIY the house needed. So, Laura offered a third option that was ready to go without any modernising needed.

But this stone cottage didn't hit the mark for Gary and Alison, lacking that je ne sais quoi they were after. Gary cut it short, admitting: "I don't think I want to see any more."

And Alison was on the same page, adding: "It's not what we're looking for."

But Alison was gobsmacked when she clapped eyes on Laura's fourth property, exclaiming: "I can't speak", before even stepping foot inside. She was totally bowled over, and the Channel 4 presenter was right there to give her a comforting arm.

Alison heaped praise on Laura with a heartfelt: "Well done."

The three-bed property came with its own pool and was a steal at just a smidge over 128,000, boasting expansive gardens all around. Alison couldn't find a single fault, gushing: "I can't fault it." While Gary chimed in with: "It just kept getting better."

They echoed each other's approval, both tipping their hats to Laura again and praising: "Well done."

Even after stumbling upon their dream pad, Laura whisked them off to see one more place, complete with its own cosy cottage next door.

Inside was a hit, but they confessed their hearts were already set on property number four. Keen to snap up the three-bed gem, listed near 130,000, they made a cheeky offer of 115,000. Alison quipped: "If you don't ask you don't get."

To everyone's shock, their "cheeky" gamble for the dream house was snapped up on the spot. Social media went wild, with one user exclaiming: "I actually gasped when the offer was accepted. Good for them. Nice couple."

Others joined the chorus with comments like: "Didn't see that coming! ! Best of luck to them."

"Go on please get it or I will" another penned, as one more congratulated: "That was a bargain. Well done to them."
