TV presenter Laura Hamilton has hit back at trolls who have criticised the A Place in the Sun star as being "too old to wear a bikini."
Dismissing the haters, she points out contemporaries such as 57-year-old Davina McCall and Amanda Holden, 54, wear whatever they want to wear on the beach.
"There are so many incredible women that I see who are my age and older and are absolutely rocking it," she said. "It's easy for people to comment online, and I just wondered what my followers would say."
She added: "Look at Davina McCall - she looks incredible. Amanda Holden - so good. I just love looking at them, and think: 'Get you! Keep doing what you're doing!'"
The furore started after the 43-year-old presenter, who offers property-buying advice to would-be expats on the popular Channel 4 show, posted a few holiday photos from Sardinia's Forte Village resort to her Instagram.
Laura posed in a blue halter-neck bikini alongside children Rocco, 11, and Tahlia, 10, but her holiday snaps apparently upset a few of her followers.
"I recently read a comment saying I was too old to wear a bikini," she wrote in a later post. "It honestly made me stop and think for a second. But then I reminded myself, life's way too short to worry about what other people think.
"Today I'm wearing a swimsuit, not because of the comment I read but because I wanted to and I feel comfortable in it! We all have days when we feel self-conscious, but we deserve to enjoy the sunshine, the beach, the pool, whatever makes us happy, no matter our age and whether we choose to wear a swimsuit or a bikini!!"
Encouraging fans to reply with their own views on whether there was an age-limit for bikinis, she wrote: "Live your life and feel good in your own skin."
Many of Laura's followers responded positively, stating their own stories of wearing bikinis at all sorts of ages.
One wrote: "Absolutely not! Bikinis don't come with age restrictions-just confidence requirements! The only age limit is the age you stop caring what other people think 49 and still here in my bikinis."
Another added "I didn't realise there was an age restriction. I still wear them and I'm 54 and I don't care what people think! If you are happy, that's all that matters," while a third said that at 62 she was still happily rocking a bikini and had only worn a one-piece for a short period after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
While Laura has successfully shrugged off the personal comments, she has admitted that she has in the bast been irritated by some of the "crazy" buyers during her long tenure on the Channel 4 property show: "I have shown people houses and thought, 'You're not going to buy this? You're crazy!'" she told Woman Magazine.
Laura did add, though, that while she can sometimes feel frustrated at buyers' decisions, "you have to respect people's choices."
