Two of the biggest stars from the world of MMA are set to make their return to the sport in an exciting live Netflix event
Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano return to the cage for their must-see fight that the streaming giant says has been years in the making. The platform has even released a special docuseries counting down to the main event.
The fight will be streamed live for subscribers at no extra cost, with UK fans needing to stay up into the early hours to catch all the action from around 2am local time.
Fans will see Rousey make her long-awaited return to the sport as part of Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions card. She initially retired in 2017 at the age of just 29, after shock back-to-back losses to Amanda Nunes and Holly Holm.
Before this, Rousey was considered one of the biggest names in all of MMA alongside Conor McGregor. UFC president Dana White previously praised her for the evolution of women's mixed martial arts.
In addition to MMA, Rousey has had successful career stints in wrestling and in Hollywood. But what is her net worth? Is she married? And what is one of her lesser known roles? Here's all you need to know.
According to the website Celebrity Net Worth, Ronda Rousey reportedly has a net worth of around $14 million. This is in no small part thanks to her history as one of the most popular and successful female MMA fighters of all time.
The same website also reports that some of her fight earnings were revealed thanks to a class action lawsuit in 2023. Between 2013 and 2016, she earned $18 million in guarantees, bonuses, and Pay Per View revenue share across seven fights.
Her biggest payday came against Amanda Nunes with a takings of around $4,879,766. After her UFC career ended, she successfully made the transition to becoming a WWE Superstar.
Her wrestling career began at WrestleMania 34 and she became WWE Raw Women's Championship at SummerSlam in 2018. She held the title and belt until WrestleMania 35 in a high-profile match involving Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
She even eventually earned a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame after just five years in the business. Like many former wrestlers and fighters, Rousey has also enjoyed a stint in Hollywood.
Not all of her earnings for her film credits are known but it is claimed she made around $1.4 million for her appearance in The Expendables 3. Her other credits include Furious 7, the Entourage movie, Mile 22 and she was a fight instructor for the Charlie's Angels reboot.
Ronda met her husband and fellow fighter Travis Browne in 2015 when they were both in the UFC. Travis confirmed they were together in October of that year when he declared in an interview: "She's my woman and I am her man."
Born and raised in Hawaii, Browne also hosts a podcast called Tough Business with entrepreneur John Fosco. It is described as "a raw, rough, real, small business survival guide."
He was married previously before meeting Ronda, but he split with his ex back in 2009. He shares two children with his former partner and he has previously said that he wanted his children to "see their parents happy and loving life, even if it so happens that they live apart. That's a lot better than having them stay together and be miserable. That can be a toxic situation for the kids, and I didn't want to expose them to that."
Travis and Ronda got married themselves in 2017 and have since had two children themselves. Their daughters were born in 2021 and 2025.
Along with her film roles, Rousey boasts other significant acting parts. She voiced the classic character Sonya Blade for the video game Mortal Kombat 11 and has picked up some smaller but significant roles on TV.
She's appeared in an episode of Blindspot and Drunk History while also hosting Saturday NIght Live and also gained a guest spot in a 'gripping drama'.
She played the part of Lena Bosko across four episodes of 9-1-1's third season. She was a part of the show's 'tsunami' storyline, with fans praising it as one of the strongest seasons.
All seasons of the show can be streamed on Disney+ now so audiences can binge watch the series all the way through to where Rousey turns. up Fans are full of praise for the 'gripping' drama and that season in particular.
One person shared online: "This season is so far the best, with so much tension and adrenaline, I was at edge of my seat almost every episode.."
Another added: "Absolutely breathtaking1 Breaking barriers and breaking my heart! I love this show a must-see!" While someone else posted: "There is a bit of suspense, action, thriller and all the things that you can imagine. It's the one of the best series I have ever watched."
Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano is streaming on Netflix from May 17, 2am UK time. 9-1-1 is streaming on Disney+.
