GMB: Sharon Stone tells Ed Balls 'you're setting me up'

Things took an awkward turn during the latest episode of Good Morning Britain after Ed Balls was shut down by Hollywood actress Sharon Stone.

At the start of the interview, things were going smoothly for Ed and his co-host Kate Garraway when they spoke to the Basic Instinct actress via video link on Thursday morning (May 9). Discussing Sharon's work, the ITV presenters quizzed Sharon on her new art venture and the canvases she's recently painted.

But the light-hearted mood shifted when Ed asked Sharon about her time on the film Sliver and the Me Too movement. He said: "The fact that Hollywood producer Robert Evans advised you to have sex with your fellow lead William Baldwin in the '93 movie Sliver to improve his performance.

"When you look back at those times, how do you feel today about what producers said to you back then?" However, Sharon didn't take to kindly to the question.

She replied: "First of all, you're setting me up with the 'did you beat your wife yet' comment so first of all I'm not going to validate the statement that you just made as if it was true. So we're not going to do that to start with."

The 66-year-old then told Ed, 57, that he needed to rephrase his line of questioning. She added: "So I'd like to restart with a new question somewhere else.

He then went on to ask her about how she was treated in Hollywood over the last few decades. But the actress laughed it off and said: I've been treated many different ways in Hollywood and all kinds of cities all over the place.

She added: "And Hollywood isn't really a place. There may be a sign but that's not where we do business."

Seeing the akward exchange, most viewers applauded Sharon for shutting down the former MP. Some also labelled the presenter "cringe".

Taking to X, one fan said: "Ed Balls clearly has all the subtlety of an elephant fart. Well done Sharon Stone for putting him in his place."

Another chimed: "Sharon stone legend just showed ed balls sit down little man." A third penned: "WHY is Ed Balls still on this programme. Hes a walking cringe."
