The Wheel star exposes show's 'many edited moments, deleted scenes and role play'

EXCLUSIVE: One The Wheel contestant has spoken exclusively to Daily Star about their experience on the Michael McIntyre-fronted game show while filming their scenes

A contestant on The Wheel has shared insight into how the Michael McIntyre-hosted series works behind the scenes. 34-year-old Jess Smith from North Somerset appeared on the show back in 2024 alongside Russell T Davies, William Hanson, Bash the Entertainer, Harry Redknapp and Deborah Meaden.

She spoke exclusively to Daily Star and said: "They edited a lot of our talking out, especially with me as I talk a lot!"

"It was honestly brilliant. I didnt win but it was one of the best experiences. It was just so much fun, all the crew and the celebrities were lovely. I loved it. Playing the game itself was just so much and meeting Russell T Davies was a massive highlight."

Jess also gave us some insight into the audition process. After watching The Wheel with her mum, Jess decided to apply and was asked to "record a little clip that gets your personality across". She heard back "within a week" and the process was "a bit of a whirlwind".

Speaking on behalf of Slots Temple, disability advocate Jess explained: "I did another phone audition where I had to answer questions about my application and about myself, then I had to do a general knowledge round where they asked about 20 questions."

"We did a mock version of the game. One of us would play the contestant and one would pretend to be the celebrity. We had to do the dancing like they do on the show. It was really fun."

"Michael McIntye and the producers then watched all the videos and made the final decision. Michael was really involved in picking who was on the show, which I think is really nice. It makes such a difference, you can tell he really cares about the show."

"I found out within a couple of days that I was going to be on the show, and they were filming the following month. It was all really quick. We filmed in May 2023 and the show aired in 2024."
