Coronation Streets social worker Ruth is back on the cobbles - but where will viewers recognise the actress from?

Ruth (Amy Drake) made her debut on the ITV soap back in 2024, and over the years has made several appearances on the street, usually trying to help the Weatherfield residents.

Earlier this year, she was brought in to assist Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and his son Bertie, after a teacher raised concerns about Daniel, following a dramatic few weeks for him.

And recently, Ruth was back on screens to help the Metcalfe family regarding foster care placements for Lucy (Anya Dewin).

Viewers will recall that Lucy is the daughter of Tims (Joe Duttine) estranged cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) who ended up murdering his wife.

After copper Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) confirmed that theyve charged Richie with the murder of his wife, she informed Tim and Sally (Sally Dynevor) that his daughter, Lucy, has been taken into care, while Richie claims he acted in self-defence.

She is back on the soap this week

In Thursdays episode (August 13) though, Ruth contacted Tim to tell him that Lucys foster placements had fallen through. Although sympathetic, Sally knew that she and Tim already had their hands full looking after the Michaelis children.

However, Tim ended up agreeing to let Lucy stay at their home - much to Sallys shock. Ruth then told the couple that Lucy was suffering from trauma and grief following her mums murder.

As for Ruth actress Amy Drake, she is no stranger to appearing on TV screens. The talented star has starred in the likes of Hollyoaks, Cold Feet and Brassic, Malpractice and Doctors.

The actress has appeared in Emmerdale and Almas Not Normal

Amy also had a stint on Emmerdale, playing both a receptionist and a paramedic. And in 2021, Amy played Debbie, in the BBC BAFTA-winning sitcom Almas Not Normal, created and written by Sophie Willian.

Meanwhile, recently talking about joining the soap Lucy actress Anya took to her Instagram and shared a snap of her beaming outside of the iconic Rovers Return. In the caption she gushed: "I still cant quite believe I get to say this, but Im so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street!

"This has been such a blessing, working alongside the most beautiful people, and getting to live out a dream Ive had for so long. Some dreams really come true dont they? Thank you so much @scream_management for making this possible. Theres a new girl on the Cobbles. Lucy Parkinson".
