Michael Schumacher family joy as positive news announced in nine-word statement
Some much-needed good news for the Schumacher family.
The Schumacher family will soon have a new addition. Racer David Schumacher, nephew of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael and son of six-time F1 race-winner Ralf, has announced along with his wife Vivien that they are expecting their first child.
David has been in a relationship with Vivien, herself a former racing driver who competed in the W Series and at Formula 3 level in 2019 under her birth name, Vivien Keszthelyi, for many years. It was in February this year that they confirmed they had married. Posting three photos of the ceremoney, they said they had wed "surrounded by the love of our family and closest friends".
And now they have more joyful news to share. Posting a photo a mirror, reflecting themselves locking lips in front of a picturesque mountain range, among a blanket, baby boots and a teddy bear, David and Vivien confirmed they are expecting.
"Love made us two, life is making us three," was the sweet caption accompanying the snap on Instagram. Within minutes, the comments section was filled with messages of love and congratulations, their combined following of more than 150,000 fans wishing them and their growing family well. Among their well-wishers was Davina Geiss of the Geiss family of German reality TV stars, who are close to the happy couple.
The happy news comes only two months after David's father, Ralf, married his partner Etienne in Saint-Tropez. That wedding took place less than two years after Ralf became perhaps the highest-profile F1 driver ever to come out as gay, when he confirmed he was in a same-sex relationship with Etienne, who is 14 years his junior.
Ralf was previously married to David's mother, Cora, though they split in 2014. The relationship between them broke down for many years, though she publicly congratulated Ralf and Etienne on their marriage. "Steven [her new partner] and I wish Ralf and Etienne all the best and much happiness," Cora said.

Ralf won six F1 races during his career but was laregly overshadowed by his seven-time world champion brother, Michael. The whole family has maintained their privacy for more than a decade since Michael suffered life-changing injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013.
Little is known about his condition to this day, other than that he continues to require round-the-clock care from his family and a staff of nurses. He is believed to spend much of his time at the Schumacher's family home on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland, though they also own a luxurious villa in Mallorca and a ranch in Texas, USA.
