We met many many moons ago at an event. She shared her story, one I never forgot about being a single mother, a widow, and struggling with the oppressive systems in this city. She was then a non profit leader organizing for women who fell victims to sex trafficking. We shared a few moments in Oakland together, and lost touch over the years. Today she is on the ballot for Barbara Lee's seat in Congress and a shining force in the democratic party. And in the extremely odd happenstances, she will be interviewing me on a panel next week in Oakland about Women of Color in Venture Capital. It will be an honor to reunite in this beautiful way. It is a connection between spiritual and physical practice. When we apply spirituality to anything, i.e. business or marketing, we are sure to exceed. However, as home prices soar and interest rates rise, particularly in urban areas, even 30-year mortgages can leave many families struggling with unaffordable payments. A 40-year mortgage would lower monthly payments by extending the repayment period and possibly locking in an affordable market rate, making homeownership accessible to a broader segment of the population. Today, with life expectancy nearing 80 years, a 40-year term aligns better with modern realities. As my friend Mary L. Duffy of CNBC would say, 40 just may be the new 30. The objective is to help the user community learn how to better use the app, share their vision and roadmap, and field questions and feedback. In addition to doing a great job on all of those fronts, the two of them are inadvertently delivering a weekly master class on leading with purpose, effectively communicating with authenticity and passion, and demonstrating what it means for a founder/CEO/product leader to deeply understand and care about their product, audience, and value proposition. No wonder the app and company are experiencing extraordinary growth. Kudos to both of them and their team for all of their success to date. Look forward to seeing where they take it from here.
