Rapper jailed after boasting about schoolboy's murder in music video

Aderahman Boumzough, 25, shot 15-year-old Rene Graham in what the judge called a 'premeditated public execution' as he rapped about the day in a video police found

Aderahman Boumzough boasts about murder in chilling rap video

A killer who gunned down a schoolboy in a playground filmed a rap video boasting about his crimes.

Drill rapper Aderahman Boumzough murdered Rene Graham, 15, after shooting him with a pistol in Ladbroke Grove, West London. Footage also showed the musician chasing and attempting to shoot a second victim, but the 25-year-old fled when his gun suddenly jammed.

An investigation was launched on July 21 2024, after police were called to Emslie Hornimans Pleasance Park in west London following reports of a shooting. After obtaining CCTV footage, police saw a man calmly approaching the childrens play area, where a family music festival was taking place, before firing a single shot.

Cops also gathered evidence from his mobile phone, which included a video obtained by Metro of Boumzough rapping while appearing to reference the firearm malfunction, saying: Dont you hate it when your ting jams? I was prepared to take soul, but Allah had a different plan.

Boumzough was found guilty of murder and attempted murder following a two-week trial and was sentenced to 36 years in prison.

Judge Simon James told him: "You robbed Renes family of seeing him grow into a man by your callous and cold-blooded conduct in gunning down and killing a defenceless teenager in what amounted to a premeditated public execution."

The case is the latest in which drill rap lyrics and videos have been used as evidence. Campaigners such as Art Not Evidence want a restriction on the use of music in court, saying:" We believe that art, and particularly rap music, should be protected as a fundamental form of freedom of expression, and should not be used to unfairly implicate individuals in criminal charges."

He ran from the scene after shooting a boy and trying to kill another

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who led the investigation, said: Following Renes senseless murder, we made a direct plea to both the Ladbroke Grove community and those who had attended the event where he lost his life. A year on, we renewed that appeal, urging anyone with information to come forward and help us secure justice for Renes family.

As part of that appeal, we released CCTV footage showing Boumzough pulling a firearm from his pocket in broad daylight, fleeing the scene, and attempting to shoot a second man as he made his escape.

He will serve 35 years in prison after the trial

While only a small number of people came forward, I would like to thank those individuals who provided statements and supported the investigation, including attending court, who refused to allow a dangerous individual such as Boumzough to live amongst them.

This conviction is the result of relentless work by officers who painstakingly reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage to trace the gunmans movements before and after the shooting."

She added: Renes murder was a tragic act of violence carried out at a popular family-friendly community event. Despite a large number of people being present, we faced significant challenges in obtaining crucial information in the early stages.

Ultimately it took a small amount of information from members of the public, combined with the diligence and determination of our investigation team, to bring Boumzough to justice."
