A Yorkshire MP since 1997, Yvette Cooper is the Home Secretary under Keir Starmer's Labour Government.

During her career she's held a number of government posts under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, and was Shadow Home Secretary for the majority of Ed Miliband's time as leader.

Ms Cooper ran for the next Labour leader after the party's 2015 election disaster but lost to Jeremy Corbyn.
