EA Sports FC 26 fans have been unable to access the game as EA FC 26 went offline today (Friday, August 7). Servers have just returned to normal after around an hour of downtime, leaving gamers unable to play.

The server status made grim reading for fans, who complained about not being able to access EA FC 26 matchmaking and online services. Independent website Down Detector received dozens of reports that EA FC 26 wasn't working.

The outage tracker monitors social mentions around certain topics to detect when services go down across the world. The Down Detector outage map showed that the issues affected users in the UK.

EA Sports took to its official social media channels to confirm the problems. On X, formerly Twitter, the EA Sports FC Direct Communication account said: "We are aware and investigating reports that some players are unable to access FC 26.

"We'll provide another update when available." This was posted at 2.12pm today.

The outage came at a time when many gamers are gearing up for the release of EA Sports FC 27, and just days after the closed beta of EA FC 27 began.

Players are also in the midst of the Futties promo in Ultimate Team, the final major promo before the end of the game cycle.

Fans vent frustration ahead of Live Event deadline

With matchmaking down, many EA FC 26 players have complained that they're unable to complete objectives before today's 6pm BST deadline.

One Redditor said: "Of course the servers go down right before I am going to complete an objective. Now I probably wont be able to complete since the servers most likely wont be back online until the after the objective expires."

For example, the Third Time Lucky event - which offers players a 96-rated Peter Crouch Futties Hero item as a bonus reward - ends at 6pm.

Although the issue is widespread on the EA Sports FC servers, players experiencing localised issues can try the following diagnostic steps:

  • Completely exit the EA App, Steam, or console dashboard and reopen the game.
