EA FC 27 leaks hint that an iconic Premier League striker will feature as a brand-new Icon item in Ultimate Team - marking his return to the game after five years

The closed beta for EA Sports FC 27 continues for a few more weeks ahead of launch next month, but leakers claim they have unearthed a major gem of inside information. While new Icon cards are added to EA FC titles each year, the next edition of the franchise is set to include a fan-favourite striker gamers have hoped for since his early retirement.

For EA FC 26, the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alex Morgan and Marcelo were introduced. Ibrahimovic even earned the spotlight as the cover star of the game's Ultimate Edition cover.

EA Sports have remained tight-lipped so far about the new Icons coming in EA FC 27 so far. But insiders have wasted no time in uncovering who appears set to join the top-rated cards once the game launches on Friday, September 25.

And while one big-name centre forward could well be on the way after years of speculation, he won't be coming alone if leakers have got it right.

According to leakers, none other than Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero is set to make his Ultimate Team return as the newest Icon card in EA FC 27. Determined dataminers say they have found reference to him in test versions of the new title.

As a result, leakers and insiders like FUT Sheriff and FUT Police have uncovered early FC 27 database files and closed beta assets confirming his return - he's even been featured in marketing screenshots. If it comes to fruition, it will be Aguero's first Ultimate Team card since FIFA 22.

Aguero of course was forced to retire aged 33 due to a heart condition, having made just five appearances for his newest club, Barcelona. He had just moved on a free from Manchester City, where he scored 260 goals in 390 games - becoming City's all-time top goalscorer.

Aguero was a hugely popular player in FUT for a long time, thanks to his speed and agility which often worked well with the Ultimate Team meta. That could well continue if he's granted a PlayStyle+ like Finesse Shot or Low Driven Shot.

If the leaks are proven true, then Aguero will be joined as a new Icon in EA FC 27 with the likes of Paolo Rossi, Raphael Varane and Brazilian women's legend Formiga. Furthermore, Aguero's City teammate Yaya Toure is set to be promoted from a Hero card to Icon, as well as John Arne Riise, Lucio and Maicon.

FUT Sheriff also predicts downgrades from Icon to Hero for Patrick Kluivert, David Suker, Gianfranco Zola, Juan Veron and Luis Hernandez. Here's a reminder of the players that held Icon card status in EA Sports FC 26.
