Kate Middleton's surprising school holiday chore she gave to Prince George

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all on their summer break from school, and the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared the chores their children get up to during the holidays

The summer holidays mean that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all enjoying a break from their studies. However, it appears that for their parents the Prince and Princess of Wales, it might not be entirely leisure and no labour for the youngsters during their time away from lessons.

That's because they previously revealed the tasks their children were assigned during a past school break - and it's not the typical tidying up or doing the washing up.

Back in 2022 while on a visit to Wales, Kate disclosed how George had been put to work while spending time at the family's Anmer Hall Norfolk residence on the Sandringham estate.

During a trip to a goat farm with Prince William, Kate revealed how George had been tasked with moving animal feed on the estate. This came after William noticed a robot silage sweeper in one of the barns and drew the farmer's attention to it.

The farmer then explained it could also be utilised to shift feed, and Kate responded: "That was George's job at half term moving feed."

Following William informing his host that his children had been getting stuck in on the farm at Sandringham, where his own father Charles has been working to transform the estate into a completely organic operation and added: "We are trying some Agroforestry as well."

At the time, royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror that one significant challenge confronting parents everywhere during summer break is deciding how much screen time to permit their children, something William and Kate will be acutely conscious of as they juggle raising their youngsters in a digital age.

Both the Prince and Princess of Wales have spoken passionately about the physical and emotional benefits of getting outdoors, while also sharing that they have yet to allow their children to have mobile phones.

And with the holidays now underway, Jennie previously explained: "William has spoken about George's love of video games, and they have both talked about 'regulating' their children's screen time. Even TV watching can apparently be problematic, with battles over who should be in charge of the remote.

"But, especially with Catherine's expertise in children's development, I'm sure they'll be pretty rigorous about monitoring who watches what - and for how long."

And despite it being the summer holidays and a period for enjoyment, Jennie suspects straightforward chores might still be on the cards for the children, assigned by Kate and William. She explained: "I wouldn't be in the least surprised if the children were given a few household chores such as tidying their rooms, filling the dishwasher, brushing the dog and cleaning up after the puppies.

"William and Catherine have both lived life outside the Palace walls, shopping, cooking and cleaning when they were at university and, afterwards, when they lived on Anglesey. They will want their children to understand that, even if you're royal, you can still treat your home and parents with respect - and pull your weight."
