Drake has placed a hefty 735,000 ($1million) bet on the New England Patriots to reign supreme over the Seattle Seahawks at Super Bowl LX. However, fans in Maryland ought to be worried for their team if the Canadian rapper's track record with staking is anything to go by.

The 'Hotline Bling' and 'One Dance' lyricist couldn't help but fancy his chances with a flutter in the build-up to Sunday evening's Big Game at the Levi's Stadium, putting his faith in one last Mike Vrabel masterclass. Taking to Instagram to share his betting slip, Drake wrote: "Bet against me if you dare," with a string of laughing emojis.

His wager, placed on Stake, gave odds of almost 2/1 (2.95 in US betting terms), and will see him walk away from the Big Game with a pay out of 2.1m ($2.95m) richer if the Pats can secure their first Vince Lombardi title since 2018.

However, due to a stint of losing bets on the 39-year-old's part over the years, the comments of his Instagram section sarcastically suggested that the Seahawks will win Super Bowl LX.

One user wrote: "Man oh man seahawks winning," in a comment which received almost 18,000 likes, while another added: "Congrats to the Seahawks." A third said: "Seahawks are officially super bowl champions," while a fourth user joked: "Yup we know how this goes."

In December, Drake placed a sizeable bet on Jake Paul to defeat Anthony Joshua ahead of their Miami mega-fight. In the end, the Toronto-born musician was out of pocket by 147,000 as Paul suffered a broken jaw to go with his sixth-round knockout loss.

In September meanwhile, Drake dropped the same amount on Jannik Sinner to win the US Open, with the Italian ultimately losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

That's not to mention failed bets on the Edmonton Oilers to win the 2024 Stanley Cup, Canada to beat Argentina in the Copa America semi-finals, Israel Adesanya to beat Alex Pereira at UFC 281 in November 2022, and Oklahoma City Thunder to beat the Indiana Pacers in last year's NBA Finals.

In terms of the NFL, meanwhile, Drake has made 19 selections excluding his Super Bowl LX punt, winning six of his wagers and losing a staggering 13.

Cricket is the only sport that the rap icon has a winning ratio in, with three successful bets bagging him a total return of 1.9m ($2.65m).

It comes as the Seahawks have been favoured by the bookmaker's headed into the Big Game, with Paddy Power pricing Mike MacDonald's team at 4/9 to the Patriots' odds of 9/5.

Super Bowl LX gets underway at 11.30pm (UK time) on Sunday, February 8.
