Lucy Letby ‘on suicide watch’ in prison after being mocked by lags over Netflix show about her case

JAILED baby nurse Lucy Letby is being monitored around the clock after being mocked by lags over the Netflix documentary on her controversial case.

Prison staff have been told to check her every hour and speak to her meaningfully for at least ten minutes a day to assess her over suicide fears.

Officers at HMP Bronzefield, Surrey, began an assessment, care in custody and teamwork process on Letby, 36, to contain fallout over the 90-minute programme, which was released on Wednesday.

There are also fears Letby will be attacked by other lags.

A source said: They are keeping a really close eye on Letby because of the Netflix show.

That means she is being checked on an hourly basis, or even more.

Staff have also been told to engage in meaningful conversation with her and keep her talking for at least ten minutes at a time once a day or more.

Lags cannot watch Netflix in the jail but are in phone contact with people outside.

Our source said: They also get newspapers and its likely there are some smartphones inside Bronzefield, so some of the girls might even have seen it.

Letby was found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill seven more at the Countess of Chester hospital in 2015 and 2016.

She lost two bids in 2024 to challenge her convictions.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission is considering evidence from a panel of doctors claiming natural causes and poor care caused the deaths.

Sodexo, which runs Bronzefield, declined to comment.
