A lorry fire brought the M4 in Newport to a standstill on Wednesday.
Emergency services responded to the incident at junction 28, Tredegar Park. Traffic heading westbound, towards Cardiff, was at a standstill between junction 28 at Tredegar Park and junction 25, at Coldra for much of the day.
The motorway was completely shut causing 80-minute tailbacks, but later reopened.

Delays are continuing to ease now that all lanes are back open on the M4 near Newport. Drivers are facing five-minute queues near Caerleon.
All lanes have reopened on the M4 westbound near Newport following a vehicle fire earlier this morning. Residual delays remain in the area.
Here is the latest update from AA traffic planner:
"Severe delays of 28 minutes and delays increasing on M4 Westbound between J24 A449 (Coldra) and J28 A48 (Tredegar Park). Average speed ten mph."
The latest updates from AA traffic planner says drivers are facing delays of around 35 minute on the M4 westbound near Newport. The queues are between junction 25 at Coldra and junction 28 at Tredegar Park.
One lane remains closed between junction 27 and junction 28 due to a vehicle fire earlier this morning.
Traffic Wales has confirmed that lanes two and three are back open following the vehicle fire earlier this morning. Lane one will remain closed "until further notice", with queues expected to continue for drivers.
There are currently delays from junction 24 at Coldra and on surrounding routes.
In Traffic Wales' latest update, a spokesperson said traffic has backed up to Junction 24. Two lanes are now open, lane one remains closed.
Delays are easing on the M4 westbound in Newport. They are now down to 50 minutes.
Drivers taking the alternate route to Cardiff via the A48 through St Mellons are also facing long delays, traffic maps show.
The grass verge next to the hard shoulder also caught fire, pictures show.
Footage captured from the M4 shows a lorry is the vehicle that closed the road.
The HGV caught fire with orange flames and black smoke billowing from the vehicle.
Gwent Police has asked drivers to avoid the area. Two lanes remain closed.
Lane three has now reopened. Severe delays remain on the M4 westbound between Junction 28 and 25.
Traffic Wales has issued an update which says the fire service is working to make the road safe before it can be reopened.
Traffic maps show delays are now severe. There are 70 minute delays which are still increasing on M4 Westbound between J25 B4596 Caerleon Road (Caerleon) and J28 A48 (Tredegar Park). Average speed is five mph.
Traffic monitoring system Inrix states that the M4 Westbound is closed, with long delays due to vehicle fire at J28 A48 (Tredegar Park). Congestion to J26.
The update says traffic is also slowing the opposite side due to onlookers.
Emergency services are on scene. The diversion is up to A48 Southern Distributor Road and straight back on the M4 again.
