A 'closing party' weekend will be held to mark its closure

A popular bar on Swansea's Wind Street is calling last orders after half a decade in business. Jack Murphys has announced it will shut for good on Sunday, August 30 after a 'closing party' weekend.

The business opened up in 2021 when we reported how its owners, Breaking Brands Management Group, acquired the old Walkabout building.

It became Jack Murphys, an authentic Irish bar, whilst the rear of the venue became Basement Jacks, a student-style club. Chip shop 'Jack the Chipper' also forms part of the venue. Never miss a Swansea story by signing up to our newsletter here.

A statement announcing the closure read: "After five unforgettable years, the time has come for us to close the doors of Jack Murphys for the final time.

"We've shared thousands of pints, countless laughs, unforgettable nights, live music, celebrations, and memories that we'll never forget.

"None of it would have been possible without every single person who walked through our doors. To our amazing customers, our incredible team, and everyone who made Jack Murphys what it became, thank you. You've been at the heart of everything we've done.

"Before we say goodbye, we're going out the only way we know how. Drink the bar dry.

"Join us for our final closing party weekend this August Bank Holiday, Saturday August 29 and Sunday August 30."
