You never know what you may find when you step into a charity shop, and, for many shoppers, that's the main appeal, as they browse to see what bargains they might come across. And if you're lucky or have a keen eye for hidden bargains, you might also be able to earn a serious profit by reselling certain items.

One of the most common items you'll find in any charity shop are old DVDs or Blu-ray films, with many clearing out their physical media collections due to the wide availability of streaming services like Netflix or Disney Plus. But that doesn't mean there aren't some hidden treasures to be found in the DVD collections in charity shops around the country. One shopper spotted something amazing in a children's DVD section.

Taking to Facebook, a man named Richard Kosala often shares his various charity shop finds, often focusing on the DVD and gaming collections in each shop he visits, as his main goal is to re-sell for a profit.

In one post from July 18, Richard shared a photo of a DVD box set he claims is one of his best ever charity shop finds, as it earned him an impressive profit.

"One of my greatest ever Charity Shop Finds was from the British Heart Foundation!" he revealed in the post. "I paid 8 for this complete Barbie DVD collection and it sold the same day on my Vinted account for 110!"

In the accompanying photo, Richard showed off the Barbie DVD collection, which had a 8 price tag along with a big, golden Barbie logo on the pink box.

He also shared a screenshot from his eBay account, which showed the same vintage DVD collection of around 20 DVDs being listed for between 160 to up to 260. However, he seemed to have been happy enough with selling it for 110, earning him a whopping 102 profit.

And Richard isn't the only one who's earned money from the Barbie films, as one person took to the comment section of the post to share: "Bought one of these at a general (live) auction about a year ago for 12 including fees.

"Turned out one disc was missing, tracked it down separately on eBay for about seven quid, slotted it in and got 109 cash from CEX. The hard part was getting the slimline case version rather than the standard one."

Some people were also baffled by the value of the box, as many claimed they'd once owned the same box. One user said: "I have this in my loft, was my daughters whos now 14, so at least 10 years old."

"Wow. Our girls had that set," someone else shared. "Definitely didn't get that much for it when we cleared out!"

"Dream, unfortunately out of my price range now with resellers," another person said.

Another user also said: "Ive been looking for this in charity shops for years for my girls as I wont pay the ridiculous eBay and Vinted prices."

But some also went on to wonder why the DVD box set now was selling for so much money. One person wondered: "Why is this so expensive? Is it literally just Barbie DVDs?"
