    Hi, so far I've tested on Mac OSX 10.9.5 and Ubuntu, and even on Win7, the error seems the same!

    Here is a fresh Ubuntu:

    $ lsb_release -a
    No LSB modules are available.
    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
    Description:    Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
    Release:    14.04
    Codename:   trusty

    $ node -v
    v0.10.25

    $ npm install nodegit
    npm http GET https://registry.npmjs.org/nodegit
    ...
    > nodegit@0.1.4 install /home/mlhch/node_modules/nodegit
    > node install.js

    var git = require('nodegit');

    git.Repo.open('.git', function(error, repo) {

    });

    Error:

    Is there anybody who can fix this before your BIG refactor???

    Thanks!!!

    We are not fixing anything until the 0.1 release is out, I'm sorry, but for those actually working on the project it's too much work.

    Start migrating your code over to the master branch ASAP, because we can't support the old API.

    You can find early docs for master here: docs

    With master your code changes to:

    var git = require('nodegit');

    git.Repository.open('.git', function(error, repo) {
      if (error) throw error;
    });

    @mlhch can you submit a failing test case? Not much we can fix if it's isolated to your computer :-/

    Hi I just did a quick testing on an Ubuntu of EC2, it's strange that it works! Previously my testing is on an Ubuntu in WMware Fusion on my Mac... omg, what's wrong with my computer???

    Not sure, let us know if you're able to narrow it down!

    Hi, after trying many node versions from 0.10.1 to 0.10.25 on Ubuntu or CentOS, I suddenly realize where the issue comes from when I saw libgit2/libgit2#2483.

    Yes, it's my ~/.gitconfig who caused the problem...

    Now everything become peace...

    Thanks!
