Is anyone working to get this project working with node 0.6.x? It would be great to it this out (without going back to node 0.4 :-)

Having the same problem on Lion with node v0.6.5 and npm 1.1.0-alpha-6

sorry i'm slacking, on vacation and been focusing on my backbone projects atm. i'm being a bad maintainer i know, but i will be getting to this, unless someone else beats me to it.

I might have it working at moneal/nodegit@a93d5f1 It looks like the problems I'm having now are related to building on Lion.

Looks like I'm getting the same error below on Lion and Ubuntu with my above changes.

    Ubuntu:
    /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgit2
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

    Lion:
ld: library not found for -lgit2
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

After I installed cmake on ubuntu I was able to build without errors.

Ah yes, libgit2 requires cmake to build now. Can you install cmake on lion as well to test? I can give it a shot when I arrive back from vacation tomorrow if you can't get it first.

Installed cmake on Lion and was able to build.

thanks moneal, compilation of your version on OSX Lion completed without any errors, just wanted to report this little thing before i continue:

    'build' finished successfully (12.242s)

the module gets saved to 'build/Release/nodegit.node', though make install fails as it expects to find nodegit.node in './build/default'.

    $ make install NODE_LIB_PATH=/usr/local/lib/node_modules/
cp: ./build/default/nodegit.node: No such file or directory
    make: *** [install] Error 1

this might be a non-issue, just wanted to report it as it might be useful info :-)

    thanks!

I guess this module is still incompatible with node 0.6..

I have changed it in moneal/nodegit@aa5a9ecba3. I'm not sure if NODE_LIB_PATH = ~/.node_libraries is correct. I think ~/.node_modules is the correct location.

    Should probably be node_modules now

@tbranyen Whats the status on this. Should I adjust the path and request a pull for you?

Yeah man that'd be awesome if you could and run the unit tests to ensure it still works as expected.
