As discussed in #139425 (comment), I think we should keep the prefixes.
They're a useful reference, people frequently talk about new feature in terms of PEP numbers.
I agree they should not be emphasised as much in the general reference material, but What's New is more of a marketing page, and the PEP numbers are an important part of that: they're the enhancement proposals that result in these new things.

Python 3.14 was released last October. As I wrote, I prefer to keep PEP numbers in What's New in Python 3.14. IMO it's too late to change such detail in the document anyway. I close the PR. |
