Is there a reason this PR isn't merged when the same fix HAS been merged for all the other versions?? Or did someone just forget it? :-) |

It was just forgotten - looks like I never pinged the RM @Yhg1s on this one, so it's my fault. (Only the release manager has permission to merge into security fix branches, and this was the only security fix branch that needed the fix IIRC) |

Landing this fix was overlooked for specifically 3.12 (python/cpython#145514 (comment)): we already have cherry-picks in place for this change for all other Python versions, this keeps us consistent. Export: 0524df7f9cdee20e7fed0f43d4516e24e938d7e6
