Closed

Description

Kasa Smart Dimmer KS225 now shows this error in Home Assistant. Just started earlier today. All other TP-Link devices are still working in Home Assistant.

Config entry 'Light Dimmer KS225' for tplink integration could not authenticate: Unable to complete handshake: 10.10.30.52: TRANSPORT_UNKNOWN_CREDENTIALS_ERROR(1003)

Have you tried to restart HA / reload the integration already? It could be that the encryption method has changed, and needs to be updated through discovery again. The current HA release doesn't do this automatically, but the upcoming 2024.7 might.

You could also try to see if using the console tool kasa works, the readme and the docs describe how to get started with that.

I'll provide an update later on when I get a chance to do a dump and see if I can narrow it down. It does appear that the firmware version has changed though.

Latest firmware for the switch is now 1.1.0 which uses KLAP encryption. Updated device fixture: here. Will PR when everything works. Determined this is not a Home Assistant issue.
I found one issue where it fails at smartmodule.py:88 with {'get_preset_rules': <SmartErrorCode.PARAMS_ERROR: -1008>}. This is using the cli to set the brightness on the dimmer.

I'll dive into it more later to see whats going on.

I took a better look into whats going on. So far, it looks like the responses are failing at the requests.

Log on Pastebin because formatting. Not sure where else to go from here. Any ideas?

Update: Looks like the dev tool had no problem with get_preset_rules as a single query, however it fails during a multiple request query.

Hi, which version of the kasa cli are you using? Also could you paste the UI output from the dump_devinfo you ran to generate the fixture please?

I'm using the latest cli version on the master branch.

Hi, could you try with this PR #1036 and let me know if it works. The LightTransition module will probably still report an error as I haven't fixed that yet.

    Works perfectly now.
Still errors here as you said: ERROR:kasa.smart.smartdevice:Error processing LightTransition for device 10.10.30.52, module will be unavailable: get_on_off_gradually_info for LightTransition (error_code=PARAMS_ERROR), but otherwise all good.

Hi, could you please try the updated PR again and see if the LightTransition error is fixed and if the fixture generation now includes the get_on_off_gradually_info section?

Fixture generation now includes get_on_off_gradually_info. Thanks for the update!
