Description

Hello everyone,

I've recently pip installed python-kasa and have tried using the command line to discover my HS105 SmartPlugs but have had no luck. When typing "kasa" or "kasa discover" I am met with:

I have 2 SmartPlugs on the network that I am connected to. I have tried "kasa --target" and "kasa --host" with their IP addresses after with no results as well. Any assistance would be amazing.

    I can't discover my HS220's, not sure if it's related. I've also tried all the above options and I think most in the help menu's.

    I'm unable to discover HS103's that version 5.0... Interestingly enough I have a few v3.0's on the same 1.0.3 firmware that discover fine.

    Are you running the current master? #147 changed the discovery behavior to fix it for some devices that did not like the previously used discovery query. #115 might also be related.

    Having a similar problem with a KL125 bulb. Checked those PR and tried reinstalling the package. Could be related to the new firmware, but I have a plug with newer firmware that shows fine.

    Bulb is connected to my local wifi, no VPNs. Device info:

    • model: KL125
    • hw: 1.20
    • fw 1.0.5
    • time: {accurate time}
    • MAC: {exists}
    • network info: {my network}
    • location: last updated 5/23/21 (purchase 'open box')

    Repo wise, tried pip install kasa version, with and without --pre flag, and fresh clone with poetry install. All give version

    % kasa --version
    kasa, version 0.4.0.dev2

    FWIW with the same setup, the KP115 plug is discovered; it shows a newer firmware version:

    % kasa discover

    Did anyone figure out how to add KL125 to ISY ?

    This issue might have been fixed by #147, but if it is still not working using the latest release, you need to provide more information in form of a packet trace (tcpdump, wireshark) and reopen this.

    If anyone else is having trouble, make sure you connect it through the app first and it is solid blue and on. Sometimes you need to do kasa discover multiple times too.
