Scientific Python Bot

This is an automated account operated by the Scientific Python project. It is not a person, and nothing it posts is a human's opinion.

What it does

It watches the scientific-python-nightly-wheels channel, which hosts nightly wheels for projects that use scientific-python/upload-nightly-action.

Wheels on that channel are removed 30 days after they are uploaded, so a project whose nightly build has been broken (or simply quiet) for a month ends up with no nightly wheels at all, and every downstream project that tests against nightlies starts failing to install it. To give maintainers warning before that happens, this account:

  • opens an issue on a project's own tracker when its most recent nightly wheel is more than 15 days old,
  • adds one follow-up comment at 25 days, and
  • closes the issue automatically once a new wheel is uploaded.

That's the whole job. It does not open pull requests, push commits, or comment on anything else.

Got an issue from this account?

It means your nightly wheels are about to disappear from the channel. The issue names the date. Usually the cause is a failing upload workflow, or a scheduled workflow that GitHub disabled after a period of repository inactivity.

If the report looks wrong, or you would rather not receive these, say so on the issue or open one at scientific-python/upload-nightly-action — that repository is where the code and the maintainers are.
