Hey, I'm Noorin

First-year student at Toronto Metropolitan University, building software and picking up AI along the way. I like shipping small things that work more than talking about big things that might.

About me

  • 1st year at TMU
  • Comfortable in JavaScript, React.js - currently deepening my Python, TypeScript and AI/ML
  • I learn best by building, so most of what's below started as "I wonder if I can make this"
  • Toronto, Canada
  • Looking for an internship or remote junior role where I can actually ship code

Projects I'm proud of

nasaSkySearch A React app that hits NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day API - pick a date, see what the sky looked like. Built to practice working with external APIs and rendering async data cleanly.

SilentFunds A Python project built for STEMing UP 2025, on the theme "Justice is expensive, silence is cheaper." My favorite project so far because it started from an idea I cared about, not just a tutorial.

Lumora A React app built to support teen girls' mental health and confidence - daily affirmations, a mood tracker, a self-reflection journal, and a few other tools, all wrapped in a calm pastel UI. Built with React, React Router, and Context API for state. The kind of project where the UX mattered as much as the code.

Instagram Clone An HTML/CSS clone of Instagram's front end - an early project, kept up because it's a good record of where I started.

What I'm working on right now

  • Getting properly comfortable with TypeScript (past the point of copy-pasting types)
  • Learning the actual math/fundamentals behind AI, not just calling an API
  • Trying to ship one finished project a month instead of ten half-finished ones
