Summary

  • add focused tests for equal() identity and comparison behavior
  • cover comparison exceptions and non-boolean comparison results
  • document same-object mutable values remaining equal after in-place mutation

Verification

  • uv run pytest tests/test_equality.py tests/test_hooks.py -q
  • ./scripts/check.sh
