Fresh twist in the Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay drama - as his devastated mother faces 'heartbreaking dilemma'

Becoming a grandparent is a rollercoaster for anyone; the intense joy at the arrival of a new baby, the concern for your own child, and the knowledge that your lives are about to change forever.

But for Caroline Peaty, whose son Adam Ramsay-Peaty and daughter Bethany are both expecting children at around the same time, it's a bittersweet experience, due to the rift that has divided her whole family.

And now the Daily Mail can reveal that there is yet another twist to the saga, as Caroline is set to become a grandmother to not two but three children at the same time.

Adam's older brother, Jamie, with whom he had a hostile falling out last year, is also expecting a baby with wife Charlotte, two years after they endured a devastating loss.

Sources say the news reinforces for Caroline, 60, the deep divide at the heart of the family, and the fact that the new cousins will be unlikely, as things stand, to grow up together.

A source close to the family said: 'They are all over the moon about another grandchild on the way.

'But it's bittersweet because it's also another cousin that Adam's baby won't get to know unless things are patched up.

'They could grow up all three of them together, it would be so lovely for Caroline and the rest of the family.'

It was announced in June that three-time Olympic gold medallist swimmer Adam, 31, was expecting a daughter with Holly, 26, the daughter of TV chef Gordon Ramsay. The baby is due in December, with Bethany set to give birth to her third child just a few weeks later.

Just recently, Adam's family including parents Caroline and Mark (pictured in 2022 with their son at Windsor Castle after he was awarded an OBE) begged for a reconciliation

Jamie's baby news is particularly poignant after he and Charlotte who also share sons Oliver, 11, and seven-year-old Jacob lost a baby boy in 2024, who they named Josh, when Charlotte was 23 weeks' pregnant.

The source said: 'It's a real shame because babies should bring joy for the whole family.

'[Jamie and Charlotte] are happily awaiting the arrival of their new child. They don't know whether they are having a boy or girl and don't really mind, but we think Jamie is hoping for a daughter.

'The baby is due in about three months, and thankfully Charlotte is having a good pregnancy.'

But the good news is of course tainted by a breakdown in relations between Adam and Holly and the Peaty family, said to have been triggered, in part, by the run-up to their glitzy wedding at Bath Abbey in December - in particular, when Caroline was not invited to Holly's hen do.

However, as we revealed earlier this month, the row goes back further and runs much deeper than that.

It is understood that the seeds of the rift were sown when 34-year-old Jamie's son was stillborn.

Instead of lining up with his family at the funeral and showing 'brotherly support', Adam chose to attend the wedding of one of Holly's friends.

'Jamie lost a child, which broke his heart and Charlotte's,' one source close to the family said.

'He had asked Adam to attend the funeral for some moral and emotional support, but his brother let him down, saying he had a social event to attend as Holly had invited him to a friend's wedding, and insisted they had to be there.

'It seems that it created a rift between the two brothers, which has escalated into a full family row.'

Adam's performances at the Commonwealth Games were relatively underwhelming

They added: 'It was a traumatic time for Jamie and Charlotte. Their baby boy was delivered stillborn. They got to hold him and say hello to him and then said goodbye. But he is never forgotten.'

Tensions came to an explosive head when Jamie was arrested over allegations he sent aggressive threats to Adam during his stag weekend in November 2025.

The family source suggests that Holly's elder sister, Megan, a police officer, had advised Adam to take precautionary measures after he allegedly felt threatened.

The siblings' dad Mark Peaty said at the time: 'They're brothers. They've always been close. Like any normal family brothers they fight, argue, fall out, make up, and start all over again. But it's got out of hand. There's been very little empathy for Jamie's genuine mental health difficulties.'

Father-in-law Gordon was said to be 'incredibly supportive' during this time, after going through similar explosive issues both with his own brother and with his father-in-law and long-time business partner, Tana's dad, Chris Hutcheson.

At the time, Jamie was questioned over two days before being released on conditional bail.

Last week, it was anticipated he would be granted No Further Action when he answered bail; however, he was released under investigation.

Whenever and however the feud started, it's patently obvious that, far from simmering down, tensions still run high. The Peaty family were not in Glasgow to watch Adam Ramsay-Peaty, as he is now named, during any of his disappointing Commonwealth Games races last week.

Only his pregnant wife, Holly, watched from the poolside at Tollcross International swimming centre.

Last month, the Mail revealed that Adam's sister Bethany, 33, the only member of the Peaty family to attend the infamous wedding, has now fallen out with Holly too over the prickly problem of their joint pregnancies.

It's alleged that Holly did not want her sister-in-law to announce her pregnancy and 'steal the spotlight' after she discovered she was having a baby girl.

Family sources claim that Adam has changed since adopting his new 'celebrity lifestyle' with the Ramsay clan.

As for the Peaty matriarch, her heartache continues. Caroline previously told the Daily Mail she hit rock bottom when Adam banned her from his life and had even contemplated suicide in the depths of her despair.

Whether a new generation of Peatys can bring the broken family back together remains to be seen.
