Anyone with greasy or spot-prone skin will recognise the battle of discovering a moisturiser that actually suits them. Numerous formulations can leave skin feeling slick or cause breakouts, while lighter gel creams don't always deliver sufficient moisture, which results in many people avoiding moisturiser completely.

Dr Sam Bunting reveals one of the most frequent phrases she encounters in her clinic is: "I don't really use moisturisers. Everything I've tried either breaks me out or feels too heavy."

The fresh launch comes after the triumph of the brand's cult Flawless Moisturiser Intense, which has secured 10 beauty awards since launching in 2023. Flawless Moisturiser Balance incorporates all of the science from the original award-winning formula and reimagines it for those with oily, combination and blemish-prone complexions.

Dr Sam said: "Flawless Moisturiser Balance is the product I've wanted to create for every patient who walked out of clinic without a moisturiser because nothing on the market felt right for their skin. The science behind it is the most advanced we've put into a moisturiser formula. And the texture - finally - does justice to it. Flawless Moisturiser Balance is a non-comedogenic moisturiser for blemish-prone, and combination skin. It delivers clinically proven barrier repair in a lightweight, fast-absorbing texture that wont clog pores, leave residue, or set your skin back.

Its star ingredient is 2% Sunflower Sprout Extract (SSE), which has been formulated to bolster mitochondrial resilience when faced with environmental stress. This means it assists skin cells in remaining healthy and continuing to generate energy, even when subjected to elements such as pollution and UV rays.

For something slightly more budget-conscious, the CeraVe Oil Control Moisturising Gel-Cream (17, Boots) is broadly considered an excellent affordable moisturiser for oily skin. It's crafted with three essential ceramides, niacinamide, and oil-absorbing technology, delivering all-day hydration while leaving the skin with a matte finish.

Back at Dr Sam's, the Flawless Moisturiser Balance features antioxidant 3% Silymarin, which works to protect against oxidative stress, alongside 1% Ectoin, renowned for calming reactive skin while boosting moisture levels. It's also brimming with ceramides to help fortify the skin barrier, plus Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, which works to reduce redness.

The fragrance-free formulation is also non-comedogenic, meaning it's crafted not to block pores. It delivers a lightweight, quick-absorbing consistency that won't leave any greasy residue, and has been developed to work harmoniously with other sought-after skincare ingredients, including retinoids, making it ideal for those pursuing more intensive routines.

The brand states the moisturiser underwent clinical testing on 32 individuals with oily, combination skin over a fortnight. Based on the findings, 100% agreed it provided hydration without clogging pores and 97% reported that stressed and sensitive skin felt calmed following application.

Customer reviews have also been exceptionally positive, with the moisturiser achieving 4.84 stars out of five.

One shopper did warn that the cream isn't compatible with their tanning drops, saying: "Really good moisturiser for sensitive/blemish prone skin. Ive really struggled to find a good moisturiser that doesnt flare up my skin, but this was great! Only thing I would say is that it doesn't mix as well as others with tanning drops. But a great base for spf and makeup."
