The funeral arrangements for Welsh music legend Bonnie Tyler have been revealed as her friends and family hope to celebrate the life and career of the star.

The Total Eclipse of the Heart singer, born Gaynor Hopkins, passed away in a Portuguese hospital last week at the age of 75. Now, her family has shared details of her funeral via a notice in the South Wales Evening Post. Tyler's family announced that a celebration of her life will take place in Swansea next month as well as confirmation on how the public can pay their respects.

She is currently resting at William Pressdee Funeralcare in Mumbles before she returns to her home, Fernhill, on Saturday, August 15 at 3.30pm. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to line Newton Road, Mumbles from 3.15pm.

The notice reads: "A celebration of Gaynor's life will be held at Swansea Minster (St. Mary's Church) on Monday, August 17 at 12 noon."

Following this, Tyler will return to her birthplace of Skewen, where she is affectionately remembered as a "Skewen girl" who would visit her family in her Rolls-Royce, at around 1.20pm, en route to a family service, reports Wales Online.

Her family has requested anyone wishing to make donations in her memory to consider Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales or Cerebral Palsy Cymru, charities of which Tyler was a patron.

It continues: "Gaynor will then return to her 'hometown', and travel through Skewen at approximately 1.20pm en route to a private family service of committal and farewell."

The notice further states: "Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites donations in support of two charities of which Gaynor was a patron: Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales, Heath Park, Cardiff, CF14 4XW, or to Cerebral Palsy Cymru, 1 The Courtyard, 73 Ty Glas Avenue, Llanishen, Cardiff, CF14 5DX.

"Donations may also be made via the online version of this notice at funeral-notices.co.uk. Her legacy lives on in the timeless songs that made her a legend."

Tyler had been in poor health after being put into an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in May. In the final update before her passing, the singer's team expressed hope that she was on the mend and would be fit enough to perform gigs this autumn, including a homecoming concert in Cardiff.

Following her passing, tributes flooded in from around the world from Tyler's fans, friends and family. Flowers were laid outside her Mumbles residence as people grieved the loss of a Welsh icon.
