Channel 5 viewers call out presenter over 'eye roll' after Bonnie Tyler death news

Bonnie Tyler died aged 75 on Thursday and Channel 5 newsreader Dani Sinha was tasked with relaying the news

A news presenter has faced fierce criticism after being spotted rolling her eyes during a segment announcing Bonnie Tyler's death.

The legendary singer passed away aged 75 on Thursday and presenter Dani Sinha was given the responsibility of breaking the news on Channel 5.

However, the reporter, who has been with Channel 5 for 11 years, made several errors throughout her bulletin, prompting her to roll her eyes. The moment didn't sit well with viewers at home who swiftly voiced their outrage online.

Amongst the presenter's slip-ups during the broadcast was incorrectly naming Bonnie's smash hit Total Eclipse Of The Heart, instead calling it Total Of Eclipse.

After a clip of Bonnie performing the chart-topping 1983 track, the segment cut back to the studio where Dani was caught looking exasperated and rolling her eyes. It was obvious the presenter was unaware the cameras had returned to her.

Once the clip was posted online, users were swift to question what was occurring during what ought to have been a sensitive and compassionate report, reports the Mirror.

While some argued she had been "let down" by technology, others slammed her behaviour. One user wrote: "She's reacting to shambolic tech support."

Another said: "It was the fact they gave the wrong song title and then played the line from her song 'now I'm falling apart' to fade out to, that was the eye roll."

A third said: "She's reacting to the wrong song being put on the autocue!" However another wrote: "Unprofessional. You don't do that in front of a live camera which could cut back you at any time ... especially when announcing a death."

One other viewer branded it a "Total Eclipse of Respect".

Gravelly-voiced performer Bonnie, who rose to stardom with classics like Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out For A Hero, passed away in Portugal weeks after being put into an induced coma following urgent bowel surgery.

A statement confirming her passing was posted on the Welsh icon's website. It read: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for."

This follows after a representative revealed last month that she had emerged from the coma but remained "very unwell and in intensive care".

Bonnie leaves behind her husband Robert Sullivan, an Olympian, whom she wed in 1973. The pair had no children together.
