Gruesome horror trailer leaves squeamish film fans begging 'don't show any more'

A new trailer for the DC film Clayface has dropped and film fans are gushing that they "love the commitment to horror" and that the stomach-churning scenes are a "stroke of genius"

Cinemagoers have been left speechless by one highly-anticipated horror movie's latest trailer. DC's Clayface follows the story of Matt Hagen as he's left disfigured by a crime boss, leaving him with a face that melts and drips like clay.

The grisly new trailer was shared on YouTube and down in the comments, one amazed film fan typed: "Honestly, making Clayface a Body Horror movie is a stroke of absolute genius," while another said: "I really like how were not getting a good shot of him as the giant clay monster until the movie comes out."

Someone else wrote: "I love the commitment to horror. No winks, no punches pulled," as a second person joined in: "If horror and tragedy can make a villain it should be Clayface."

Someone else praised DC, writing: "DC giving Clayface a standalone, tragic body-horror movie is genuinely one of the most inspired decisions theyve made in years. Count me in on day one!"

Others asked for more, chiming in: "If this does well, please give us a psychological horror Scarecrow film next! The potential for Gotham's rogue gallery in the horror genre is endless," and: "Theyve done Joker, Penguin, and now Clayface. Next in line should be Mister Freeze."

Someone else even begged DC for "no more trailers" as they don't want to see anything until the film comes out: "No more trailers! Dont show us anymore; this is great." The trailer was also branded "one of the smartest film decisions made in years".

Clayface is expected to hit cinemas on 23 October and stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen. Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll and Joshua James also star.

The film's description reads: "Matt Hagens meteoric rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man is tragically cut short when a local crime bosss actions leave him horribly disfigured."

"Abandoned by his team and with nothing left, Matt seeks out a cutting edge treatment that miraculously returns him to his former self but also unexpectedly affects his grip on reality, spiraling him down a destructive path of all-consuming revenge."
