Beverley Callard might be best known for life on the cobbles, but away from the cameras she has quietly been building a second career for decades and its one most fans never saw coming.
The former Coronation Street star is also a fully qualified fitness instructor, with a cult following stretching back to the 1990s and a string of best-selling workout DVDs that turned her into an unlikely home fitness icon.
Her titles, including Real Results and Body Blaster, flew off the shelves in the 90s and 2000s, with soap star Beverley continuing to teach classes alongside her acting career even while filming Corrie.
I still teach, she revealed during an exclusive chat in collaboration with WhichBingo, home of the best casino sites. Ive done that job as long as Ive done acting, since I was 20 years old. For years I did that while I was in Coronation Street, and no one knew about it.
When her fitness secret finally came out, the response surprised even her.
My first DVD sold 800,000 copies, she reveals. It knocked Al Pacino and Robert De Niro off the number one slot. I was amazed.
For Beverley, fitness has never just been a side hustle its a passion.
I love coaching women, she says. I love the fact that when Im teaching fitness, Im just me.
She has now been forced to pause her classes after being diagnosed with breast cancer in February, undergoing surgery shortly after to remove two lymph nodes.
Earlier this month, she revealed she was still waiting for test results due to a hospital backlog, while also returning to work on Irish soap Fair City despite feeling knackered and emotional.
Away from her fitness work, Beverley has also been swapping cobbles for campfires once again in I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, where she says she finally got the full jungle experience she had always wanted.
I think I did achieve what I wanted, she tells the Daily Star. I wanted the real experience, rather than being frozen to death in Wales. God, that was so hard.
Her first stint on the show in 2020 came just months after hip surgery, which left her unable to take part in some trials.
That really got to me, she admits. Because I will have a go. I might not be very good, but Ill have a go. And in Wales, there were certain things I wasnt allowed to do. Now, of course, I could do anything. And I did.
Back in camp for the All Stars series, Beverley says she formed strong bonds with her fellow female campmates.
The women on the show, we did get on so well, she says.
She grew close to Scarlett Moffatt, Gemma Collins and Ashley Roberts, joking she felt like a mum figure to some of them, while also admitting she wished viewers had seen more from Ashley.
Looking ahead, Beverley says she still has no plans to slow down and hopes to return to teaching as soon as she can.
As soon as Im well, please God, Ill be teaching classes again, she says.
