A Netflix star has been hospitalised after fighting off an armed man who broke into her home.

Nana, 34, is said to have bravely confronted the robber who invaded her property in Seoul, South Korea, in the early hours of the morning. The intruder, a man in his 30s, threatened the star and her mother with a weapon and demanded money.

Nana's mother reportedly lost consciousness during the attack, but pair were able to detain the intruder until police arrived on the scene. It's understood both women required medical attention after the struggle - with the singer's mum having suffered "serious injuries".

Sublime, Nanas agency told Korean outlet Maeil Kyungjae: "Early this morning, a robber armed with a weapon broke into Nanas residence.

"The robber entered the home with the weapon, creating a very dangerous situation where both Nana and her mother could have suffered serious harm. Due to the robbers physical assault, Nanas mother suffered serious injuries that left her unconscious, and Nana also suffered physical injuries while trying to escape the crisis. Both of them currently require treatment and absolute rest."

A local detective told the AFP news agency that the man was attempting to steal cash and valuables from the home and has now been detained on charges of aggravated robbery.

In an update on the condition of Nana and her mother, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said: "Nana also sustained physical injuries while trying to escape the dangerous situation.

"The mother has regained consciousness, and both of them are currently in need of treatment and complete rest."

Nana (her real name is Im Jin-ah) first rose to fame back in 2009 with the popular K-pop girl group After School. This spawned sub groups Orange Caramel and After School Red.

The group is no longer active, but she has gained popularity over the past decade as an actor starring in several TV series, including Kill It and Justice, both crime dramas which first aired in 2019.

Then in 2021 she was cast in the Netflix series Glitch, a South Korean science fiction series about a young woman who teams up with a UFO enthusiast to search for her boyfriend who has mysteriously disappeared.

She is also reportedly starring in the upcoming drama Climax and the Netflix series Scandals (tentative title), where she plays the role of Hui-yeon, a widow who vows to remain chaste after losing her husband.

Based on the 2003 Korean film Untold Scandal, it reimagines the story of the French novel Dangerous Liaisons and features a 'dangerous love game' between the characters. The drama is set to be released next year.
