A Place in the Sun host Craig Rowe was left speechless after a couple "separated" halfway through a house viewing.
The presenter was guiding the pair through particularly challenging property search when one hopeful buyer decided to leg it. The telly host was on hand to help Jane and James find their dream holiday home under the Cretan sun.
The duo had 130,000 to play with and were dead set on bagging a bargain getaway in eastern Crete, a place that holds special memories for them.
The lovebirds had previously declared they were after "a champagne house for a lemonade budget," which had Craig scratching his noggin. James fondly recalled: "We had our very first holiday in Crete, we got engaged in Pathos and we came to our honeymoon in Crete."
With dreams of a two-bed pad near the beach, Craig had to break it to them that the average house price in the area was a hefty 190,000. But Jane and James were willing to compromise to secure their slice of paradise.
Their hunt started on a high note with a charming two-bedroom stone village house in Limnes catching their eye, reports the Mirror. Priced at just 119,658, it shot to the top of their list. However, the atmosphere took a turn for the worse as they checked out the second option.
Next up was a three-bed stone house in Episkopi, and with the beach just a stone's throw away, Craig was crossing his fingers it would be the one for them.
Jane wasn't having any of it when she clapped eyes on the gaff, giving the decor a big thumbs down with a blunt: "No it's too small. I'm not feeling it." As Craig tried to entice her with a grand tour, Jane wasn't biting and legged it, leaving James to scope out the terrace which only confirmed their first thoughts.
Craig was gobsmacked by the quick brush-off, admitting: "I had halved the time it takes them to get the beach so I had high hopes for this one, but they really didn't like it."
After turning their noses up at more homes, Jane and James decided to chuck an extra 30,000 into the pot. Craig kept his chin up, promising the picky pair: "I've got one more chance to impress you, my rather demanding house-hunters."
But it all went pear-shaped as none of the pads were up to their expectations, leaving Jane and James to admit they might have got their wires crossed.
James came clean, saying: "To be brutally honest, we got ourselves a bit confused. What we thought we wanted, we realised it maybe wasn't that at all," adding that while they're all for a bit of character, they don't fancy fixing up a holiday home every time they visit.
