DAZN have been forced to issue advice after complaints about the shocking quality of their Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois 2 stream.
Usyk and Dubois went toe-to-toe at Wembley on Saturday evening in the undisputed heavyweight world title fight. But the coverage of such a blockbuster occasion was so appallingly bad that DAZN were forced to issue advice to furious customers.
The coverage, only available on the DAZN app, was littered with crashes and buffering despite fans having to pay 25 for the biggest fight of the year.
DAZN acknowledged their horrific quality of stream on social media and notified fans about how to address the problems.
They instructed: "Please follow the below-mentioned steps without skipping.
"1. Force restart the device. 2. Uninstall the app, 3. Update and Restart the device, 4. Reinstall the app 5. Internet speed Try to stream on another device. If issue persists, please DM us."
The farcical response five minutes before the bell went to start the fight with both fighters already in the ring - giving fans no time to complete the changes before the start of the action.
Fans reacted furiously to the dismay on social media, with one user ranting: "Ive paid 25 to watch Usyk and the stream keeps buffering despite full WiFi signal. This is not acceptable for a paid event."
A second raged: "@DAZNBoxing @dazngroup @DAZN_Sport this stream is shit. 24.99 just to buffer. Sort your s*** out."
For those who did see any of the action, it was apparently an incredible fight worthy of the occasion.
Usyk was named the undisputed heavyweight world champion for the second time after his knockout victory in the fifth round.
The 38-year-old finished what he had started when he connected with a massive left and knocked out the British contender, having first stunned him with a right midway through the fifth round.
Dubois had earlier shown promise and landed shots with precision, forcing the champion back into his corner in the first round.
However, by the end of the second round it was the Brit who was wobbling, having been caught with some great counter-punching after having some success initially with his jab through Usyk's defence.
Speaking after his win, Usyk said: "38 is a young guy, remember! 38 is only start! I want to say thank you to Jesus Christ. I want to say thank you to my team and Wembley, thank you so much! It's for the people.
"Nothing is next. It's enough, next, I don't know. I want to rest. My family, my wife, my children, I want to rest now. Two or three months, I want to just rest."
Considering his next opponents, Usyk replied: "Maybe it's Tyson Fury. Maybe we have three choices, Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. Listen, I cannot now say because I want to go back home."
Dubois said on his defeat: "I have to commend him on the performance, I gave everything I had. Take no credit away from that man, I'll be back. I was just fighting, trying to pick up round by round. It is what it is."
While Queensberry promoter Frank Warren put forward Parker to fight Usyk next, urging: "Usyk is a modern day legend. In any generation he would be a great fighter. No complaints, the better man won on the night. It's Joe Parker's time."
