Those in the Daniel Dubois business hoped Father Time was catching up on Oleksandr Usyk. But the 38-year-old is ageing like a fine wine.
One of the all-time greats of the sport added another chapter to his incredible story as he knocked out Dubois in the fifth round to become undisputed heavyweight champion for a second time at Wembley Stadium.
It was the fifth round in the first fight two years ago which caused controversy when Usyk hit the deck from a low blow. Yet the same round here was the one in which the two-weight undisputed champion rubber stamped his dominance over Dubois.
Usyk had been picking the Brit apart before he put him away. He first detonated on Dynamite with a right hand from his southpaw stance which sent Dubois down.
The Brit would rise in time but he rushed in soon after and a crunching counter left sent him down again and he would not beat the count this time. The Usyk fans in the arena went wild. The Dubois support could only admire the brilliance.
Usyk regained the IBF title he had relinquished last year to return it to his collection alongside the WBO, WBC and WBA belts as he further etched his name into this sports history books as a legend.
Now unbeaten in 24 and looking unbeatable despite his age. This was arguably the best performance at heavyweight as he beat Dubois for a second time.
Essex-based brawler Dubois, 27, looked a picture of calm as he marched into the bowl of the arena and the DJ went through six songs while fireworks also went off into the Wembley sky.
Usyks entrance was much more sombre but still theatrical. There were plenty of cheers for him in what was far from a hostile atmosphere for the away fighter. Legacy was beamed out on the screens as the elaborate entrances came to an end.
Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will fight to become the undisputed heavyweight champion on Saturday, July 19.
Fans can order the fight on DAZN PPV for 24.99 or get it free with a DAZN Annual plan.
This was another night which he further added to that legacy. Another champion taken down, another British boxer demolished.
This was not a repeat of 2023 in Poland when he stopped Dubois in the ninth. It was far more conclusive.
Southpaw Usyk couldnt miss with his piston-like jab from the first bell. Dubois tried to respond and some heavy rights did push the Ukrainian back.
But it was Usyk who finished the opener the strongest, cracking in a clever left hook. The WBO, WBA and WBC champion caught Dubois brilliantly as he came in twice in a superb second.
IBF title holder Dubois was starting to get frustrated. He did clip Usyk with a couple of rights early in the third but the Ukrainian took control again.
The counter-punching was class but he would also press the pace then. Dubois was gasping for air. He was punching a lot of that air, too.
The fourth was a bit scrappy but the classy work was from Usyk. Dubois was getting hesitant and afraid to commit because of what was coming back.
Then the fifth would bring an end to the demolition as Usyk floored him twice before he got the titles wrapped around him again. Dubois was trying for greatness here but he couldnt live with the level of Usyk.

This was first time all four heavyweight belts had been contested on these shores and was a chance for Dubois to become the first British undisputed champion in this division since Lennox Lewis in 1999. It would not play out that way.
Dubois recovered so well from that 2023 loss and an earlier career defeat by Joe Joyce by beating Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua to become a world champion. But he must now rebuild again.
He will certainly have to wait for Usyk to walk away before he can reach the top of the division. And given how good the Ukrainian still looks at his age, so will the rest of the heavyweights.
Usyk will go down as a great of not just this era but of all time and this was another example of why.
