Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke sanctions new three-year deal for Aubameyang after FA Cup

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the hero of the hour as he scored twice in Arsenal's FA Cup triumph against Chelsea and he's now set to be rewarded with a new 250,000-a-week contract

Arsenal will offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a new 250,000-a-week deal this week in a bid to keep him at the Emirates.

Aubameyang outlined his importance to the Gunners with two goals to sink Chelsea and land Mikel Arteta the FA Cup in his first season as boss.

The Gunners came from behind to win 2-1 at Wembley thanks to the brilliance of Aubameyang, who finished the season with 29 goals in all competitions.

The triumph secured them a place in the Europa League and Arteta is hoping this will be enough to persuade Aubameyang to stay.

Club owner Stan Kroenke has sanctioned a new three-year-deal for Aubameyang following talks with the star's representatives that will see his wages increase by almost 100,000-a-week.

Aubameyang, 31, has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Inter Milan and knows this will be the last big contract of his career.

Arteta is hoping to get a positive decision from Aubameyang this week and has told the Gabon international he can go on to earn comparisons with club legends like Thierry Henry, Ian Wright and Dennis Bergkamp.

He said: "The most difficult thing in football is to find the right striker, that is for sure and he makes it look simple.

"We always had incredible strikers at this football club and Auba deserves to be named and compared with the big names. By winning trophies he will be closer to that and the longer he stays here, hopefully we can have him for longer.

"The biggest problem was to convince him to work the way he was working. He was going to get more rewards and more respect - and our respect would go to admiration.

"Admiration from his team-mates and the people who have been with him and also from the fans. I think now, the way he is conducting himself on and off the field, he has got that and has reached that."
