Xbox has suffered a major outage as its server statues shows red for multiple services with reports that thousands of gamers have been left unable to play games.

The issues, which is believed to be on a global scale, comes just days after Sony's PlayStation was hit by an outage which caused huge disruption to gamers.

Currently, Xbox's service statues shows major outage listed for four key services that help gamers to be able to play digital content. These include: Account & Profile, Store & Subscriptions, Games & Gaming, and Apps & Mobile.

Reports made on social media suggest some users are even unbale to sign-in to their consoles to access the device and their gaming library.

Xbox has continued to provide updates on the issues via posts on X from its Xbox Support account.

In a series of posts, they said: "We are aware that some users are encountering errors when attempting to sign in, see your game library, or launch games. Our engineers are actively working to mitigate the issue.

"Just checking in on the game library, sign-in, and game launch issue. We know this has been going on a while and appreciate your patience while our teams keep working on it."

Gamers have taking to X to post about their frustrations of being left unable to play with many bringing up the recent move to digital copies of games, which like the PlayStation incident, sees games blocked when servers are down.

One said: "First PSN was down then Xbox. Two weeks in a row we've been shown why having physical games matters."

Another wrote: "After Sony went through connection issues, now it's Xbox players' turn to go through problems logging in and even accessing their catalogue."

A third added: "We pay a lot money for the game pass and for the games that are not included with game pass but we cant play them."

At the time of writing, some users have now been able to access their consoles and games, but Xbox still states the issues are ongoing.
