Brits looking for a mind-blowing holiday destination off the beaten track should head to Morocco!
There's desert trips full of adventure, blazing sunshine and fascinating historical sights. Many tourists choose to head to the red buildings of Marrakesh with its lively markets or the luxurious White City of Casablanca.
However, theres more to Morocco than the most-visited hotspots and those looking for a captivating trip should consider heading to Erfoud, in the south east.

The town is often dubbed the gateway to the Sahara, because it sits close to the undulating red dunes of the desert. Holidaymakers can get stuck into camel trekking, quad biking, and 4x4 desert tours or even experience a night under the stars in a desert camp.
Brits should be aware the weather in Erfoud can be strong while temperatures reach highs of 31C in May it increases to a scorching 39C in July. So choose your travel time carefully.
Travellers can also discover ancient kasbahs (fortified mud-brick structures) and lush oasis towns such as Tafilalt. While the region is famous for its many fossils so eager amateur archeologists can look for ammonites and trilobites, enjoy fossil workshops and museums.
Hikers and film fans can explore surrounding regions which have been used in filming locations from Erfoud itself to the Sahara Desert and the nearby Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate.
If you want to get stuck into the traditional culture of the region you can do that while wandering in Erfoud. You can explore the busy markets, colourful souks and local food.
Narrow streets are filled with the smells of local dishes like lamb tagine, couscous and mint tea.
Rissani Market, one of the largest traditional markets in the area lets you buy a wide array of goods including spices, textiles, handicrafts, and locally grown produce.
You can also take a leisurely stroll or a guided tour through Erfoud's scenic palm plantations which are full of lush greenery.
Plus, the Erg Chebbi Dunes are one of the best spots to explore the Sahara desert. There are plenty of activities from camel trekking, sandboarding, and gazing at the sunset.
Just remember to take a hat and sunscreen! Ziz Gorges, a series of dramatic limestone canyons carved by the Ziz River, offering stunning panoramic views and opportunities for hiking and keen photographers.
The destination is the perfect spot for Brits seeking adventure, culture, and natural beauty. Luckily, there are some well-priced hotels in the region. Booking.com has apartments listed for less than 20 a night.
However, there are luxury options too from a gorgeous riad hotel with a swimming pool for 46 a night to a deluxe room with glorious views from 84 a night.
Brits are lucky that Morocco is served by a number of airlines the closest airport to Erfoud is Ouarzazate Airport. It takes around six hours on a direct flight to reach the hotspot and return flights start from 37.
