Coronation Street fans baffled by major blunder as Toyah and Imran asked to adopt Elsie

Imran Habeeb and Toyah Battersbys worlds were rocked this week in Coronation Street when they were asked to consider adopting youngster Elsie, just weeks after taking Alfie home

Coronation Street fans have been left baffled by a glaring adoption blunder in the ITV soap.

Last night (May 25) Imran Habeeb and Toyah Battersby were contacted by social services to see if theyd reconsider adopting tot Elsie.

But theyd given their foster daughter up for good after Toyah exposed Imrans cheating earlier this year. Now theyre married and in a more stable place, their social worker was insistent that theyd be best placed to look after Elsie long-term.

It comes just after they took custody of Imrans biological son Alfie from Abi Webster, who is determined to get him out of the country by splashing out on fake passports.

Eagle-eyed fans soon pointed out a key mistake in this, as Elsie was previously deemed unsuitable to live with other children when Imran and Toyah were living with Kelly Neelan.

Taking to Twitter to share their bafflement, one fan wrote: Im sure I remember them saying Elsie couldnt live with other children.

Theyre writing that much sh** at the moment theyre losing track, another agreed.

As another fan wrote: Hang on, I thought Elsie couldnt live with other children? Or was that just an excuse to make Kelly homeless?

Someone else said: I thought that too - these scriptwriters dont follow proper social services or childcare laws!

Another wondered: Perhaps a newborn baby wouldnt count? but one fan quickly responded: Trouble is, newborn babies rapidly turn into regular old babies and then toddlers Plus newborns arent exactly low maintenance!

As a sixth viewer echoed: When they fostered Kelly, the social workers told them they couldn't foster Elsie [because] of Elsie's background Elsie couldn't have any siblings so how does this work with them having Alfie at the same time!

Other fans are sure that the new twist in development will mean Abi wins custody of Alfie in the end.

One viewer said: Interesting plot development stay tuned, enter Abi!

So after all that Toyah and Imran get Elsie back, they can return Alfie back to Abi now #Corrie, someone else said.

Another fan didnt hesitate to slam Toyah, as they wrote: Toyah is being so selfish - she should give Alfie back to Abi now she has Elsie back!
