Jungle legend Harry Redknapp has been holding his own on I'm A Celebrity All Stars, as we edge closer to Friday's nerve-wracking finale. But the former football boss, whose initial jungle adventure in 2018 saw him crowned King of the Jungle, believes one camp member may have overstepped the mark on Tuesday night's explosive episode.
A massive bust-up erupted between Adam Thomas and Jimmy Bullard, after the latter suddenly walked away from the show mid-task declaring 'I'm not feeling it', leaving his partner Adam - who branded Jimmy a 'p****" - vulnerable to elimination too, though campmates eventually decided to save him.
Harry, 79, says of the drama ,"Yeah, I watched it all last night with my wife Sandra. It was mostly Adam, getting upset about different things and messing around with Jimmy Bullard."
"Who knows what was going on in Jimmy's head? He just didn't want to do it. It was a shame because, obviously, Adam suffered."
But the former West Ham player reckons that the Waterloo Road actor's response may have been slightly over the top. "He went a bit crazy, didn't he? It's a shame, because those two were inseparable in the jungle."
He adds, "Some people are just more emotional than others. It depends what the person's background is. Some have come from an acting background; some people are more precious than others - some people just... get on with it." Harry, it appears, belongs to the latter category, and has seldom been spotted moaning about revolting challenges or meagre rations dished out around the campfire. He says, "I just get on with things. I'm not one for making a fuss about anything much, you know."
For the energetic 79-year-old, his positive approach is merely a result of his harsh, straightforward upbringing in Whitechapel, reports the Mirror.
"That's just how I was brought up. We didn't have anything when I was a kid, really. Us East End kids used to go hop-picking in Kent when I was a kid for six weeks, with my nan."
"That was our holiday. But hop-picking makes the jungle look like a luxury holiday camp. Your hands would be bleeding by the end of the day."
One of this year's most divisive campmates has been David Haye, who triggered outrage in camp when he described his model girlfriend of 6 years, Sian Osborne, as an 'ugly duckling'.
Despite horrified responses, he doubled down, saying, 'Most ugly girls realise they've gotta have a personality and the banter to tell jokes and s***, so people overlook the fact that they're not aesthetically amazing straight away. It's called ugly duckling syndrome."
Harry says of the professional boxer, "David really doesn't care; he says what he thinks. I mean, it's his opinion. But I didn't really get that involved with any of the drama, to be honest. I was on the other side of the camp, I didn't even hear it.
"I also didn't have my hearing aids with me - I couldn't charge them up in the jungle, so I knew it was going to be a problem for me. I was OK sitting close to people, but I was struggling to catch conversations going on at the other camp.
"I did think watching it last night that he came on a bit strong, to be fair, with Adam. But look, he's a big boy - he can take care of himself."
Regarding who might claim the crown on Friday night's live final, Harry's backing Olympian sprinter Mo Farah. "We've not seen much of Mo, but that's all down to the editing. He's great. I could see him winning."
He continues, "Craig Charles was good; he could win it. Scarlett Moffatt's fantastic; she's a great girl. Gemma Collins was a character, but sadly she's gone. It's difficult, because they're all nice people - on the whole, we actually all got on OK!"
