Love Island fans spot 'weird' detail they 'would avoid' completely

Love Island fans have been left baffled by something many contestants have done this year

Some viewers of Love Island have confessed that there are certain puzzling aspects about the latest series that they simply can't get their heads around, even following the announcement of the winners.

Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak emerged victorious in the public vote, scooping the 50,000 prize. They beat Jasmine and Kavan, along with Angelista and Simba.

It all unfolded after eight weeks of romantic triangles and countless explosive scenes. While some doubts lingered about the strength of numerous relationships between the couples who reached the final week, the majority remained adamant that their romantic prospects appeared promising.

Unsurprisingly, given that many of the couples had declared their love or confirmed their exclusivity before the live finale.

This included Lorenzo, despite being part of his fourth pairing during his stint in the villa. Some watchers continued to speculate throughout the series that he might reconnect with his original partner and fellow finalist Jasmine, reports OK!

However, that didn't happen. Instead, Lorenzo chose to make things 'exclusive' with Julia, something that was revealed during the Islanders' celebration meal.

Meanwhile, Mica and Samraj, who narrowly missed out on a final spot, disclosed they had finally exchanged 'I love you's.

But discussing this with presenter Maya Jama, they swiftly dismissed suggestions it meant they were now boyfriend and girlfriend. This peculiar twist has left numerous fans baffled.

One took to Love Island UK's subreddit and wrote: "This is the one thing I don't understand about the villa. Everyone seems so much more comfortable saying 'I love you' than they do committing to being boyfriend and girlfriend?".

"Mica and Samraj have both said they love each other, and that the next step is boyfriend and girlfriend. I think the same is true with a few other couples in the villa."

They weren't the only one as another responded: "It's so weird, I would probably avoid saying I love you on TV at all, it's a weird environment and I would want some space before saying something that serious".

A third chimed in: "Islanders act like saying you're bf and gf is getting engaged and it's ridiculously funny. Maybe its more serious because they will be in the spotlight but it isn't that serious and you are allowed to break up. You aren't engaged. You aren't married. It's literally what exclusive means."

Someone attempted to make sense of it by suggesting: "I get having the term exclusive for the villa, and then exiting the villa and wanting to see what life is like before you're officially partners. However, IRL I agree. exclusive is the same thing as Bf and Gf."

While one viewer pointed out that from this year's cast, Aidan was surprisingly the contestant who seemed to explain it best. They remembered: "To be fair, Aidan sort of said it best shockingly to his brother, 'Love is a feeling and an emotion, becoming girlfriend and boyfriend puts a label on it' .

"That's why people are more comfortable in saying they love you as they are talking about their feelings, becoming boyfriend and girlfriend puts a lot more pressure on it which sometimes isn't needed."

Love Island is streaming on ITVX.
