The Masked Singer viewers reckon they've cracked the mystery behind Can of Worms' real identity, and they're a music icon. The seventh series of the popular ITV reality programme is well underway, with audiences frantically trying to identify the famous faces beneath this season's collection of costumes.
Four celebrities have already had their masks removed. The One Show's Alex Jones and rapper Professor Green were initially revealed as Disc Jockey and Teabag respectively. Following them were vocalists John Lydon and Marcella Detroit, who turned out to be hiding behind Yak and Gargoyle.
Eight contestants remain in the contest - Arctic Fox, Can of Worms, Conkers, Monkey Business, Moth, Red Panda, Sloth and Toastie. One particular outfit has recently set social media alight, with numerous fans insisting they've identified the celebrity beneath Can of Worms.
Despite "not hearing his voice" during the character's latest performances, one Reddit user reckons that several clues point towards rapper Tinie Tempah, reports the Express.
Discussing the "plants that make music" hint, the fan explained: "I took this to be that they've done a song with someone who has a plant in their name. Tinie did a remix or something of Lily Allen's song Can't Knock 'Em Out. I found it on YouTube when I was googling during the episode haha. Only, I can't find anything about this remix anywhere else, so I'm not sure if it was an official release."
Another hint referenced the phrase "written in the stars", which the spectator linked to Tinie's 2010 chart-topper of the same name featuring Eric Turner.
They elaborated: "We saw a chipmunk - I know he's done at least one song with the rapper Chip who used to go by the name Chipmunk. The song I know they featured on is called Game Over. We saw a naughty step - Tinie Tempah has a song called Welcome To Cabana with the producer Naughty Boy."
The viewer also highlighted that Can of Worms quoting, "bring on the soul", might reference Tinie's hip-hop-influenced fried chicken and soul food company called RAPS. Additionally, the character has mentioned unwinding with a bookworm, with Tinie publishing his debut memoir, My Story So Far, in 2011.
Concluding their analysis, the fan stated: "He also said 'Trade Show' in the first clue package - he's performed at quite a few trade shows and corporate events."
Tinie Tempah isn't the only famous singer that viewers have speculated for Can of Worms, as numerous others suspect that JLS member Marvin Humes is concealed beneath the costume. Meanwhile, the panel - Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Maya Jama - have suggested names like Robbie Williams, Ben Shephard and Paul Whitehouse.
Can of Worms initially graced The Masked Singer stage during the opening episode on January 3, where they performed Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast. They then sang Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr during the programme's Halloween-themed special last weekend.
The remaining eight contestants will all take to the stage tomorrow (Saturday, January 24), bringing both sides of the competition together for the first time. The judges will be joined by special guest Perrie Edwards for another round of TV's most bonkers guessing game.
The Masked Singer is available to stream on ITVX
