Would you buy a one-way ticket to Mars? Tell us your answers

Taking a no-return trip to Mars would quite possibly be the greatest adventure you can tell absolutely no one about

In recent years, Earthlings have been receiving some fantastic images of Mars, with amazingly clear pictures of deserts, mountains and dunes that look similar to landscapes found on our planet.

This is largely thanks to NASAs Mars Curiosity rover, which landed on the Martian surface in 2012 and was joined last year by another rover, Perseverance.

While these two rovers do their job taking pictures and sampling rocks, theres talk in the background of one day sending a manned mission to the Red Planet, with optimists including Elon Musk suggesting this could be possible within the decade.

The problem is, however, that we are still a long way from developing the technological capability of organising a return trip, so anyone who is sent to Mars will most likely be there for a very long time.

For most of us, the idea of leaving behind our loved ones to embark on such a dangerous journey from which there can be no return doesnt sound very appealing, but there are among us some heroes who would willingly sacrifice their lives for the advancement of human civilization.

Volunteering for such a mission would certainly be one way of achieving ultimate stardom on Earth, but anyone stranded on Mars for the rest of their lives is unlikely to ever hear of their own celebrity status back home.

Rather, theyd be forced to settle into a life of solitude and isolation, attempting to farm on Martian soil with hardly any tools or agricultural means.

Mars might also be full of dangers that we are currently not aware of. If there were aliens on Mars, they might not be very pleased to see humans on their planet.
