ITV The Chase Around the World viewers fume milked to death! minutes into show
Bradley Walsh is fronting the latest spin-off series of the popular quiz show, The Chase.
The Chase Around the World returned with a bang, but the latest instalment left viewers with one burning complaint. Bradley Walsh fronts the new ITV game show, which looks to be a cross between the ITV game show and the BBC's Race Across The World. The hour-long special sees six pairs of contestants travel through Barcelona before racing to the finish line.
After being tasked with a series of puzzles and questions along their journey, they have to be accurate to progress to each checkpoint. The final team met Bradley at the finish line, where they went up against Chasers Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan and Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis.
But just minutes into the programme, viewers urged ITV bosses to make this the final spin-off of the daytime quiz show. One X user penned: "Never seen a TV show milked to death like The Chase... 'How can we do the show but also get paid to travel around the world with it? I've got an idea!'"
Another agreed: "This is so dull. They should've just made a new series of Beat the Chasers." A third chimed in with: "I've given The Chase Around the World an episode and a bit out of loyalty to The Chase, but it's just not doing it for me." A fourth echoed: "This is actually quite boring. Far too slow. I'm only sticking with it to see Barcelona!"
However, others praised the new format of the spin-off show. A viewer tweeted: "Kinda got destination X vibes", as another agreed: "I just finished watching, and obviously lots will be starting, so I won't spoil it. It was different, fun and still nail-biting! Really enjoyed that!"
It comes after the beloved host gushed about the exciting new spin-off series. He teased: "I would describe it as The Chase... but around the world! It's out and about. It was very different doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I've been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!
"The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did, but then again, I wasn't chasing around, literally chasing around, the cities we were in." Speaking about how close the competition becomes, he revealed: "The competition really heated up; you could see the contestants thinking, 'Right, this is what we've got to do. This is how to play this game'.
"There were times when some were over-taking others, some were slipping back. And, a couple of times, which is really quite interesting and what I liked, they literally saw each other on the street, or in a place where they were getting a clue."
The series will transport viewers from Rome to Barcelona, Lisbon to Paris, Zurich in the Alps and finally to Athens. The Chase Around the World continues Thursday at 9pm on ITVX.
