Princess Eugenie has announced the name of her daughter, two weeks after she gave birth to her third child.
Sharing the name reveal on social media, Eugenie announced that she has given her daughter the middle name of Elizabeth, in a tribute to her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Eugenie has joined a long line of royals who have named their daughters after the late Queen, as the royal tradition honours the lasting legacy of Britains longest reigning monarch. At the time of her death in 2022, the Queen had eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with most of the girls being named after Her Majesty in some capacity.
With many members of the Firm adopting their own versions of the moniker, here are all the royals who are named after the late Queen Elizabeth.
The late Queens only daughter Princess Anne was named after both her mother and her paternal grandmother.
Annes middle names are Elizabeth, after the Queen, Alice, after Prince Philip s mother Princess Alice of Battenberg, and Louise, believed to be in reference to Princess Louise, who was the daughter of Queen Victoria.
The name Anne also has long royal ties. In the early 1700s, Queen Anne sat on the throne, and throughout history, there were five queen consorts who bore the name Anne. Several other monarchs, including Edward IV, Charles I and George II, had daughters called Anne.
Continuing the tradition, Princess Anne named her only daughter Zara after the late Queen, while also passing down her own name to her child.
Zara Tindalls two middle names are Anne and Elizabeth, making Zara the late Queens first grandchild to bear her name.
Zaras first name is not a traditional moniker, but it is believed to have been suggested by her uncle, King Charles, when she was born. Her name means bright as the dawn.
The first daughter of the late Queens son Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his then wife Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice, like her cousin Zara, was given Elizabeth as one of her middle names in tribute to the late Queen.
Beatrices second middle name is Mary, which is in homage to the princess great-grandmother, Mary of Teck, who was the queen consort and wife of King George V.
While Andrew and Fergie followed in the tradition of naming their daughter after the late Queen for their first daughter, they didnt continue it with their second child Eugenie, whose middle names are Victoria and Helena.
Lady Louise Windsor is the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, born in 2003. In keeping with the tradition, Louise was given three middle names to honour different royal women.
Louises first middle name is Alice, which she shares with her aunt Princess Anne, after her grandmother Prince Philips mother Princess Alice of Battenberg. Her second middle name is Elizabeth, which she shares with many of her royal relatives.
Louises third middle name is Mary, honouring her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Mary. Her first name was a favourite of her mother, Duchess Sophie, and also pays tribute to her paternal great-great-grandmother.
Isla Phillips, the second daughter of Princess Annes son Peter Phillips, also holds the middle name Elizabeth, as with many of her royal relatives.
Islas older sister Savannah however, who is the Queens eldest great-grandchild, only has the middle name Anne, after her grandmother.
The sisters, whose mother is Peters first wife Autumn Kelly, only have one middle name each, while many of their cousins have multiple.
The only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Charlottes two middle names honour her great-grandmother, and her grandmother she never got to meet.
Charlottes first middle name is Elizabeth, in homage to her late great-grandmother, while her second is Diana, in a moving tribute to her late grandmother Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
The young royals first name is also in tribute to her grandfather King Charles, with Charlotte being the feminine version of the monarchs name.
Zara Tindalls second daughter Lena, pronounced Lay-na, is another member of the Royal Family who has the middle name Elizabeth, after her late great-grandmother.
Lena is the only one of the Tindall children who has Elizabeth as a middle name, as her older sister Mia has the middle name Grace.
The name Lena does not have any royal ties, as a spokesperson for Zara and Mike Tindall said at the time of their second daughters birth: "It was just a name they liked.
Princess Lilibet, who is the only daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, was named after her late great-grandmother in a different way to her royal relatives.
Lilibet is derived from Queen Elizabeths private childhood nickname, which originated when she was a toddler and couldn't pronounce her own name properly. At the time, there was much controversy surrounding her name, as a Palace source told the BBC that the Sussexes had not asked the late Queen for permission to use the private nickname.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan then disputed the claims, insisting they would not have used the name had the Queen not been supportive, adding that the late monarch was the first family member the duke had called.
The spokesperson said: "The duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement - in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called. During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name."
Lilibets middle name is Diana, in tribute to her grandmother Princess Diana, who she never had the chance to meet.
When Princess Beatrice gave birth to her first daughter Sienna, she decided to pass down her own middle name, Elizabeth, to her child in 2021.
The youngsters first name breaks from tradition, as a friend of Beatrices said at the time of Siennas birth: "They were looking for an Italian name which started with an S for Sarah, to honor [Sarah Ferguson]. And also reflected the golden rust color of both Sarah's hair color and Beatrice's, which the new baby shares."
When Beatrices second daughter Athena was born in 2025, the princess decided to once again hand down the royal name of Elizabeth for her daughters middle name, meaning now Beatrice and her two daughters all share the middle name Elizabeth.
The newest member of the Royal Family to be named after the late Queen Elizabeth is Princess Eugenies daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Eugenie announced the name of her third child in an Instagram post yesterday, two weeks after the tiny tot was born.
In the caption of the post, Eugenie wrote: "We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts.
Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home. Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers."
